Registration for Bike to School Day is open!

Join the Kansas Safe Routes to School Program and schools across the state as we celebrate Bike to School Day on May 7th. Head here to register for this exciting event that helps promote biking as a fun and safe way to get to school and around your community. We’ve put together an event planning toolkit, template materials to help get the word out, and more.  Once you register, we’ll send you links to order FREE encouragement items for your event like bike bells, lights, a banner, and even helmets! Register by March 31st to make sure you get the goods before supplies run out.

Read the Strategic Action Plan!

In February 2025, the Kansas SRTS Program adopted our first Strategic Action Plan, which documents the program’s vision and goals. The plan also defines our path forward for future years by laying out priority strategies and actions. We are extremely thankful to everybody – especially our Kansas SRTS Advisory Committee – that participated in making this plan solid and inspirational. You can read the plan here!

2023-2024 Plans Are Complete!

In June, five communities – Belle Plaine, Emporia, Holton, Parsons, and Rossville – all finished up their first Safe Routes to School plans funded by KDOT’s Planning and Programming (P&P) Grants. We are thrilled to have helped get these communities started on their paths to make it safer and easier for students to walk, bike, and roll to school! Check out their new plans.
